The United States on Thursday vetoed a UN Security Council draft resolution calling for an end to Israeli attacks and “disproportionate use of force” in the Gaza Strip. The resolution, sponsored by Qatar on behalf of Arab nations, received 10 votes, one against from the United States with four abstentions, including Britain, Peru, Slovakia and Denmark. France, a permanent member of the Council, voted in favor.
