U.S. to Boycott “Durban II” UN Racism Conference

But there’s a hitch. Via Washington Post:

The Obama administration said Friday that the U.S. will boycott an upcoming UN conference on racism unless its final document is changed to drop all references to Israel. The conference is a follow-up to the contentious 2001 meeting in the South African city of Durban. The U.S. and Israel walked out midway through that meeting over a draft resolution that singled out Israel for criticism and likened Zionism – the movement to establish and maintain a Jewish state – to racism.

State Department spokesman Robert Wood said the closing statement under consideration mirrored the 2001 draft and was unacceptable. “As a result, the United States will not engage in further negotiations on this text, nor will we participate in a conference based on this text.” At the same time, he said the U.S. would participate as an observer in meetings of the UN Human Rights Council, a body that was shunned by the Bush administration for anti-Israel statements and failing to act on abuses in Sudan and other states.

Jews are entitled to self-determination, to live freely in their homeland.

Zionism is just as valid as Palestinianism. If Zionism is racism, then so is Palestinianism.

The fact is, it’s ethnocentric to claim that only a certain ethnic group has rights to own land, as is the claim made by the Arabs.

Why are Arabs the only ones entitled to self-determination?

People like “John Harrison” are just internet drive-bys that like to mouth off without offering any evidence for their inarticulate bumper sticker comments.
No doubt he’s the same Islamist who spammed my other site as well, where he called himself “Jack”. A fraud by any other name is still a fraud.

Apparently john doesnt follow the hyper links at the beginning of the articles. Maybe Smooths interpretation of the articles is alittle biased but hey this site is pro Israel, not anti-islamic just trying to collate the news that is as close to the truth as MSM (or other sources) will print. You cling to your percieved truths as I shall to mine, I believe you to be wrong but I’m not going to try to censor you for your beliefs (like “radical-islamists” would).

when I was in the military we had to protect people so they would be free to protest the base that i was stationed at, it was just great to be driving along and have people throwing stuff at your car b/c of the base ID stickers in your window. ( this was in 2003)

My thoughts on the boycott echo the first post… why would Obama administration even think of attending the conference. Everything I have read from elsewhere and here are about the same thing. Obama was losing when the issue was foreign policy but that was superceeded when the economy went to pot.

This website has no reliable information. All the anti-Islamic things and false rants are just untrue. Get a friggin life.

I wrote the same thing this morning.

I still scratch my head in wonderment over the fact they even considered taking part in it.. Bush didn’t boycott the racist conference for nothing.
